And this is the hike that was suppose to last 5-6 hours.....and they ended up getting home ELEVEN AND A HALF hours later!!!!!! Yes...the young wives were freaking out a little...and the wise
experienced wife wasn't worried! The boys in the family, sans Jacob on a mission, went to Zion to do some canyoneering on the Fourth of July. The girls stayed home with the kiddos and played in the water at the park, walked around the booths, and made homemade salsa! Yum! When the boys finally got home, they had lots of stories to tell about why they took so long (forgot the map for one!) and how exhausted they were (only had two harnesses and three people-yikes!). Thank goodness for a police officer who gave them a ride up to the car (after questioning them thoroughly...hmm..who would be curious of OBVIOUS hikers in Zion???) He even made Ben give him his registration and license; never can be too careful, I guess. Too bad they didn't just get a normal hitch-hikers ride back, but nope...this had to take more time...Oh well. The canyon was beautiful and I'm sure Ben could tell you lots of lovely stories...but for now...you just get pictures! :)
This is called Spry Canyon in Zion National Park:
